FEBRUARY -

Your House Has a Story: Researching the History of Your House

Is your house built before about 1945?  If so, you might want to get involved in the House Histories project underway in Elburn!  It's a joint project from Elburn's Ad Hoc Historical Committee and the library's Heritage Center.

Julia’s presentation covers local history resources and government documents that homeowners can use to determine house architectural style, date of construction, and previous owners.  We look at building journals, local newspapers, real estate ads, city directories, maps, Ancestry database, etc., and possibly even an architect.  This evening is specially tailored to Kane County and Elburn resources specifically.  If you’re part of the House Histories effort then don’t miss this event!  For more information on the House Histories or to get involved call Laura at the Heritage Center, (630) 365-2244 x 172.
