Program Description

Event Details

Join us for a guided hike led by a Naturalist from the Kane County Forest Preserve District. After the hike, join us in the stone shelter for a read-aloud story time.

June 5   Bird Songs: With leaves on the trees, it’s hard to see our feathery friends. Instead, we’ll use our ears to find birds in the trees as we walk through the woods!

July 17-Evening Hike   Flying Squirrels: There is more than one ‘flying’ mammal in our area, and it’s not a bat!  Take a hike in the Elburn Forest Preserve with a naturalist to learn about this unique member of the rodent family.

August 7   Singing Insects: Venture out to explore the world of singing insects. We’ll learn about the calls of some of the more common insect music-makers, then use our listening skills to find these six-legged music makers.
